Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed that the club rejected a £6million offer from Stoke City for Wales international Joe Ledley on transfer deadline day.

The Potters eventually turned their attention towards Sheffield United midfielder Michael Tonge after being thwarted in their attempt to bring Ledley to the Britannia Stadium.

Ridsdale told the Western Mail: "I spoke to Joe Ledley at length on Monday and assured him he will play in the Premiership.
