West Bromwich Albion sign Gianni Zuiverloon.

WEST Bromwich Albion have signed Dutch defender Gianni Zuiverloon for £3.2million on a three-year contract from Heerenveen.

The 21-year-old is perhaps best known in England for scoring the winning penalty in the mammoth 32-kick penalty shoot-out between Holland and England’s Under-21 sides in 2007.

Highly rated in De Eredivisie, Zuiverloon was handed his debut by Ruud Gullit at Feyenoord.

A move to Heerenveen followed, where the youngster established himself as a regular both at club level and as a Holland Under-21.

Zuiverloon becomes Albion boss Tony Mowbray’s third summer signing, following the permanent captures of Roman Bednar and Kim Do-heon.
