West Brom Want Halmosi
Another day and another Peter Halmosi transfer rumour. This time it's West Bromwich Albion who want to sign Plymouth Argyle's Hungarian international.
Last week fellow Premier League new boys Hull City confirmed they were interested in signing the 28-year old left winger with Tigers boss Phil Brown declaring: 'He's certainly one that we'd be interested in. But we've been given a quote by Plymouth that is way and above our estimation of the player.
'It's in the chairman's hands, he is speaking to Plymouth's chairman at the moment and they're just trying to agree a price. The final part of the jigsaw is agreeing the fee between the two clubs.'
Hull are reported to have offered £1.8 million but Argyle are holding out for £3 million.
According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper West Brom have now entered the race to sign Halmosi and see him as a straight replacement for fellow Hungarian Zoltan Gera who recently left the Hawthorns to sign for Fulham.
It now appears that the Pilgrims' will find it extremely difficult to hold onto their star player even though he has two years left on his current contract. But with a bidding war just beginning Argyle may get the £3 million they want for Halmosi.
